Perhaps top management is just optimistic, or maybe Jimmy Cayne got back a little late from the bridge game and missed the news of the firm’s demise, but oddly enough the Bear Stearns web site, as of March 18th at 8 PM EDT, is still accepting job applications.
Claiming “it’s what’s inside that counts,” the company invites people to experience “the Bear Stearns difference” and encourages potential recruits to “just ask the people who already work with us.” It doesn’t say if anyone is actually at the office.
An active web site and a stock that closed today at $5.91, three times the offered price. Maybe there is still hope.
